Silverized Honeycomb Seats

Michael Young's Hex Chair Looks Like a Steel Drum

The Hex Chair happens to look very much like steel drums. It wouldn't be surprising if someone suddenly whipped out a pair of drumsticks and started rocking out on it instead of relaxing in it. Yet, aside from this playful comparison, the Hex Chair is quite sophisticated and unique.

Created by designer Michael Young in collaboration with the Hedge Gallery, the Hex Chair does appear to be more of a work of art than an actual piece of furniture. Nevertheless, it would fit beautifully into contemporary and minimalist homes, not to mention how much it would appeal to the musically inclined.

A limited edition, the Hex Chair is set to debut during the 2011 Design Miami show later this year. Its geometric, silverized chasm will surely mesmerize many when displayed there.
