The Heavy Metal Series of Heels Finds a New Application for Automotive Tech

Those outside of the creative field may be surprised to discover the intriguing relationships that exist even between disciplines as diverse as automotive design and fashion. The Heavy Metal Series makes this particular link quite clear through the presentation of women's shoes made from materials like aluminum.

Bryan Oknyansky collaborated with Kimberit of Berlin to digitally conceive six pairs of high heels as one would a car, a plane or a building. Through the use of automotive-grade metals, the designer was able to reference the graceful forms of motor vehicle parts and use drills and heavy duty machinery to turn these solid stilettos into sculptures. The Spider Heels, Caged, Canti and Spinneret Heels were sampled by Paris Fashion Week.
