These Handmade Prom Dresses are Made Entirely from Recycled Materials

Marci Ralph and her daughter Christy Maiquez recently designed two stunning handmade prom dresses that are made entirely from newspapers and duck tape. The mother and daughter team were inspired to create the dresses after holding a prom-themed photo shoot for senior class pictures.

To make the dresses, Ralph and Maiquez had to cut, crumple and shred over 50 newspapers. After four hours, the pair had designed two different versions of the handmade prom dress. The first dress features a series of rosettes along the bodice and a shredded newspaper train. The second dress is a floor-length gown made from fully intact newspapers.

The duo explained that creating the dresses was a fun activity and they look forward to designing and making future prom dress creations.
