Han Bing Takes Photos with a Cabbage Like It's His Pet

China-based photographer Han Bing started a peculiar photography movement that involves him walking a cabbage on a leash in public places. For over a decade now, this ongoing project provokes the debate on what society's values are. He chose to use a cabbage because it fittingly is the Chinese symbol of sustenance.

Having a full stock of cabbage was once seen as a symbol of material good in China and now, people are more apt to make reservations in fancy restaurants to signify their status or fight in line to get the next iPhone. Bing wanted to showcase that it's not the cabbage that could have changed, but society itself.

He has walked the cabbage among white-collored societies and around densely populated attractions such as, the Great Wall of China, Miami Beach and Harajuku.
