Financial Exercise Incentives

The GymPact App Makes it Costly to Miss Gym Sessions

If one of your New Year's Resolutions was to exercise more, then the GymPact app is for you. The GymPact app is a free iPhone app designed to get you to the gym by making it cost you on the days when you don't go.

The GymPact app first has you set your own gym schedule for the coming week. Every time you go into the gym on the days you've chosen you must check into the app and perform at least 30 minutes of exercise. If you miss a day on your schedule you lose money. The money you lose is divided among the number of people who actually stuck to their exercise routine for the week. While it seems like it would be really easy to hustle the GymPact app, I like the idea behind it nonetheless. Money makes people do strange, and occasionally healthy things.
