AeroGrow On NASA Shuttle

Now astronauts don't have to rely on nasty freeze-dried foods when they're launched into space. AeroGrow technologies has teamed with NASA to bring fresh greens to those aboard the Endeavour shuttle.

The Endeavour took off yesterday stocked with Seed Pod technology according to CNNMoney. "This experiment is intended to advance the sicence of growing food during long-term space expeditions and may further the development of heartier varieties of tomato plants for farmers and gardeners on earth."

AeroGrow is a Colorado company that became famous for its plant spas. You don't need a green thumb for these babies... nor do you need dirt, sunlight, pesticides or fresh air. The intelligent plants even let you know when it's time to water them. You could turn a dark storage closet into a lush green house!

I know what my fellow Canadians are thinking, and I'm sure many others are having the same thoughts... the company wouldn't answer on a video interview, though there was a twinkle of suggestion and spark of amusement in their eyes when they replied that they didn't want to endorse anything illegal!

Michael Bissonnette, the Founder of Aerogrow said, "AeroGrow is proud that the technologies that make our garden so simple and easy to use are being tested for growing fresh food in space as well. We're thrilled to contribute to the education of so many students and are looking forward to introducing the AeroGarden in classrooms and educational environments around the world."
