There is a new grounds crew at Chicago’s O’Hare airport. The Airport has employed a heard of goats as its new grounds crew, which is strange, but eco-friendly and apparently quite effective. This is the Chicago airport's way of pitching in and reducing emissions while creating a sustainable grounds crew.
This new grounds crew is a herd of 25 goats that are owned by a company that goes by the name of the ‘Central Commissary Holdings LLC.’ The company will move the animals to the Chicago airport once the Spring growth starts to get out of control. The goats will be responsible for clearing excessive and invasive forms of plant life.
The goats are responsible for just 120 acres of the 7,000 total at the airport. This pilot program will potentially open doors for other airport programs.
