Magic Leap's Grordbattle is a Hyper-Realistic Action Game

At GDC 2019 this week, Magic Leap and Weta Workshop unveiled the newest multiplayer prototype for the Magic Leap One virtual reality device in the form of Grordbattle. Grordbattle is a multiplayer virtual reality experience that's based upon Dr. Grordbort’s Invaders, an action game that sees evil robots invade one's living room. In the virtual environment, two to four players battle one another, with their eye and mouth movements and voices mirrored by the avatar that they choose.

At last year's Game Developers Conference, Magic Leap and Unity entered a partnership to support Unity developers in creating spatial computing experiences. Grordbattle stands out for its use of spatial computing, which makes the digital components of the game feel as though they are truly physically present.
