Blind-Accessible Games

‘Grail to the Thief’ is an Interactive Audio Adventure Game

Grail to the Thief is an adventure game designed specifically to be easily playable by blind people. The game is reminiscent of classic adventure games like Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Day of the Tentacle; but instead of text-only descriptions, the game is presented entirely through audio.

Interestingly, the game doesn’t use the screen readers that blind people often use to navigate computers. The game’s designers point out that blind people hear screen readers so often that they associate them with work, not play. For that reason, Grail to the Thief’s voice-overs and sound effects will be done by professionals, rather than utilizing monotone computer-synthesized voices.

The developers of Grail to the Thief are running a Kickstarter campaign to fund additional features such as smartphone compatibility, a female character and a Spanish version of the game.
