An Indian Businessman Commissioned a Pure Gold Shirt

Pankaj Parakh, an Indian businessman, politician and social worker, is the proud owner of a pure gold shirt, one of the most expensive pieces of clothing in the world. Parakh's shirt was designed by a Dubai-based designer.

The actual creation of the shirt was carried out by Mumbai-based Sanghvi Jewellers, who enlisted the labor of 20 goldsmiths to work on the shirt over a period of close to two months.

The gold shirt cost 10 million Indian rupees, approximately $16,400. It weighs a hefty 4 kilograms, which is perhaps unsurprising given that it's made out of pure gold.

Parakh, who lives in the Nashik region of India's Maharashtra state, commissioned the shirt because he wanted to wear "something different" on his 45th birthday on August 8.
