Glenwyvlis Distillery Launches First-Ever Whiskey

GlenWyvis, the world's first 100% community-owned distillery, has officially launched its first whiskey, the GlenWyvis Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey.

The distillery produced 3,600 bottles of the new three-year-old expression, 2,000 of which sold out almost immediately via online pre-sales. The whiskey itself is made from a batch of 18 casks, including 15 first-fill ex-Tennesse whiskey barrels.

As a result, the whiskey arrives with a 50% ABV and a complex flavor profile. On the nose, it is said to deliver a light, floral, and malty taste, while the palate features flavors of rich stone-fruit, brown sugar, ripe orchard fruit, and vanilla.

"The 2018 distillation of 18 casks has produced a delicious whisky. Young whisky brings you so close to the grain – this is the first step, and it is pure GlenWyvis. This first step is part of a long journey for GlenWyvis Distillery, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us," said GlenWyvis Board Chairman David Graham.
