Italian Photographer Francesco Romoli Creates and Captures Ghostly Scenes

Italian photographer Francesco Romoli has created and captured ghostly scenes of small imaginary towns that he has set up much like a filmmaker would. These ghostly scenes have been carefully handcrafted from cardboard, using perfected lighting techniques Romoli makes these miniature scenes quite realistic. Through photo manipulation he has integrated a person or couple in each of the scenes to create a dramatic effect that is extremely powerful.

The series ‘Imaginary Towns’ is nothing like the dioramas that we are all used to seeing, if you can remember back to the times that we had to make a shabby scenery project in grade school. These scenes are incredible works of art that really grab your attention, even at first glance. A strong feeling of loneliness and being in a dark place hits you like a ton of bricks when these scenes are closely analysed.
