People’s Architecture Office Overhauls Fuqiang Elementary School

The Fuqiang Elementary School in Shenzhen, China was the subject of a make-over. The space was overhauled by the Beijing-based firm People's Architecture Office which focused on creating a more creative environment for learning. In addition to the new visual aesthetic, the institution's overhaul includes a new range of facilities and more outdoor teaching spaces too.

People's Architecture Office approached the school sa a hybrid space and embraced a design called Learning Terraces. This spatial pedagogical system features "cantilevered classrooms, rooftop gardens, and deep window nooks that can become spaces for conversation and study." The planted roof terrace on the premises also includes a special mini farm, fitness spaces, and even activity spaces.

The new Fuqiang Elementary School also features an eye-catching blue and turquoise exterior.
