Rather than capture reality, Australian freelance photographer Rahkela uses the medium of photography as a means to express her perception of the past.
Charged with color, energy and sex appeal, this exclusive C-Heads editorial stars the idiosyncratic beauty Ruby Hough from Jaz Daly Management. The editorial was inspired by Jimi Hendrix and the lyrics of Purple Haze. Originally going for a "90s grunge pop rave" aesthetic set in the city of Sydney, Rahkela decided to switch tacks at the last moment. The team got back in the car and headed over to Newtown in pursuit of a wholly different interpretation of the iconic musician's lyrics.
The freelance photographer explains, "Purple Haze came on the radio and by the time we got there we all had a completely different vibe altogether and with that we went on to create the perfect shoot!" The designs that partially shaped this vibe were created by Anell Holly and Jesh Creative.
