'Freedom for Disabled Divers' Lets the Paralyzed Explore Under the Sea

The physically handicapped may one day be able to safely scuba dive thanks to Emil Orman's Freedom for Disabled Divers. Freedom for Disabled Divers is an apparatus designed to let people with limited to no use of their legs scuba dive.

Scuba diving without using your legs sounds like an automatic death sentence, but it actually seems doable thanks to Orman's unique suit which features fins affixed to the wrists. The legs are held in place by a harness as not to drag along and slow the diver down.

I still have the use of both of my legs, but I am nonetheless excited by Emil Orman's Freedom for Disabled Divers. Any design that levels the playing field between the able bodied and disabled is a winner in my book. Check it out here.
