Codecademy.com Allows People to Learn Code for Free

Codecademy.com was created by Zach Sims and Ryan Bubinsky and launched on August 18th, 2011. The site provides visitors with totally free programming lessons.

Codecademy.com is incredibly slick, easy-to-use and fun and that's why it's amassed an incredible 200,000 unique visitors who have completed 2.1 million lessons in less than 72 hours since the site launched. It's also providing many with lessons for a skill they are desperate to learn.

Founder Zach Sims has told TechCrunch that their growth has been mostly organic, stemming from the Twitter and Facebook badges users are given after completing lessons.

This site has the potential to reach millions of people and teach them basic skills in programming. This site will give everyone from CEOs to interns the foundation they need to grasp basic programming. At the moment, the site has not solidified their plans for monetization.
