Giving Away Facebook Apps For Marketing

A few weeks ago I noticed this new form of ad on Facebook. Some branded products are available to be sent as free gifts within the Gifts application. This application allows you to send your friends a gifts (actually, the gift's picture), which usually costs 1 dollar, chosen between some hundreds of gifts drawings. Gifts, being just pictures, are then displayed on the recipient's profile. Every day a new gift is launched, and in the last month three of the daily gifts were free, and they were Clinique Happy fragrance (of course a picture of), a Harley Davidson Naughty list, and a burger phone inspired by the one featured in the movie Juno.

Personal effects of this promotional tool: my attitude toward Clinique happy is better, and I realized the existence of the movie Juno, being even willing to watch it.

Not bad, for such a tiny marketing tool!
