Expandable In-River Soakers

The Flow Bath Filters Water for Hygienic Natural Washing

In communities that don't have the resources, the facilities and ultimately the wealth to be equipped with indoor sanitation, it is common for people to wash themselves in nearby creeks and other bodies of water. The Flow Bath has actually been designed to improve upon this activity by affording a more thorough rinse.

Guo Yanlong, Zhang Linfu and Huang Jie of the Hefei University of Technology have developed an inflatable ring that takes the length and width dimensions similar to that of a standard bathtub's rim. Connected to this is a filtering membrane that expands downwards, under the surface and beneath the weight of an occupant or two. The Flow Bath is intended to be placed in the river, filtering out dirt, debris, pests and more for a much fresher and cleaner soak.
