The giant fish sculptures on Botafogo Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil are made using abandoned plastic bottles. This incredible creation features humongous fish structures that are lit at night and illuminate the coast. The fish have been built as if they are coming out of the sand, and send a message to be more environmentally conscious about the fish living in the sea.
This project was a part of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (RIO+20), which runs until June 22nd, 2012. The goal for this conference is to bring together world leaders along with thousands of others to find solutions to improve social equity, environmental protection and lessen poverty. This conference marks the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992.
