Recycled Rubber Crumb Tables

KALO's Fikra Tables Experiment with Weight & Unconventional Materials

Design studio KALO explores unconventional materials in crafting the line of Fikra tables. Ammar Kalo designed the four-piece table series using recycled rubber crumbs. The Fikra pieces start off with a solid white oak wood, which is followed by a coat of pink paint and finished with black rubber crumbs around the perimeter. Every tabletop is seemingly large in size in contrast to its narrow legs. The table's surface also appears to be sliced in order to give off a smooth looking finish.

The top of the Fikra table legs cross over and is visible from the table top wedged in between the wooden surface and rubber surrounding. The four tables are suitable for domestic and public spaces -- whether filling work areas, cafes, galleries, or libraries.
