Fiercely Fashionable Feathers

Not Even Big Bird Is Safe From the Onslaught of Designers

Ostriches, peacocks, pheasants, turkeys, parrots and chickens take heed; the fashion world is, literally, out for your hide.

The use of feathers to adorn garments has been a practice for many civilizations and cultures of the past. It is no surprise then that as history repeats itself, designers have begun incorporating more of our feathered friends into one of a kind, sometimes questionably wearable, creations that can be described as whimsical, beautiful, and, in some instances, down right heinous.

Indeed, being a designer, I found myself at a park the other day, fingers positively itching to get my hands around, respectively, the neck and sleek black quills of a rather fat looking bird. As there do not happen to be ostriches within a ten mile radius that I am able to, legally, pluck one, one has to make do with what one can obtain.

Fortunately for Mr. Crow, his gift of flight saved him from becoming part of my newest pièce de résistance. Sadly, some of the other creatures in this montage were less than fortunate, losing out twice; stripped bare of their covering, and molded into outfits that even Bjork would think twice
about donning.
