Field by Antony Gormley Took Nearly 15 Years to Complete

The art installation succintly titled Field by Antony Gormley is not made up of a fabricated grassy landscape or flower-covered floors. Instead, it is comprised of countless clay mounds that have taken on abstract forms of imaginative creatures. Although known for his sculptural depictions of mankind's form, Gormley writes that this time around, he "wanted to work with people and to make a work about our collective future and our responsibility for it. I wanted the art to look back at us, its makers (and later viewers), as if we were responsible."

A passion project, Field by Antony Gormley has taken nearly 15 years to finish. Made up of over 200,000 clay figures, the installation takes up the entire space they are exhibited in.
