This Fiber-Based Milk Cap Was Created by Arla Foods and Blue Ocean Closures

This fiber-based milk cap has been created by Arla Foods in partnership with Blue Ocean Closures to help shift the dairy industry into the next phase with regards to packaging sustainability.

The carton cap is crafted with FSC-certified fiber material that has been coated with a thin barrier to help it maintain its integrity with use. The lid is bio-based, capable of being recycled just like paper and is also ocean biodegradable. The use of the lid could help Arla to reduce its plastic consumption by over 500-tonnes on an annual basis.

Chief Commercial Officer Peter Giørtz-Carlsen spoke on the fiber-based milk cap saying, "Improving our packaging, including reducing our use of plastic, is imperative to us and we know that consumers are also very invested in this area. This project to explore what could very well be the first fibre-based cap on milk cartons is very exciting and shows that we at Arla are constantly looking to improve and lead the transformation of sustainable packaging."
