David Palmer Creates $18,000 Flip Flops to Save the Rainforest

LA-based artist David Palmer and sandal company Chipko have teamed up to create a pair of fancy flip flops that will set you back $18,000. Each pair has been hand-painted by David Palmer himself and comes with a reclaimed wood and glass display case, making them one-of-a-kind works of art and not just some accessory to be worn to the beach. Proceeds raised from the sale of these fancy flip flops will be used to help protect a 100,000 square-foot parcel of endangered Costa Rican rainforest.

If the $18,000 fancy flip flops are a little too pricey for your budget, Chipko and Palmer also offer less expensive, non-hand painted versions of these shoes. Proceeds from the sale of the inexpensive slippers are not contributed to the cause, but still fancy flip flops will go towards saving a 100 square foot parcel of endangered rainforest.
