Emily Evans, Trend Hunter (INTERVIEW)

Evans Talks Memorable and Daring Extreme Stunt Videos

Emily Evans may have already completed her editorial internship, but her favorite extreme stunt videos trend as well as her time working in the office has continued to stick with her. Along with going more in depth about the daring feats the two daredevils pulled, she also gushes about Trend Hunter the TV series and explains why interviews such as this one is what more businesses should be doing to add a personal touch to branding.

What is your favorite trend and why?

My favorite trend has got to be the one that has stuck in my mind since I interned here, which is extreme stunt videos entitled Daredevil Documentaries. The one I am about to show you is one of my favorites which stuck out. It is a documentary called Skyliners. It is done by two french acrobats who go to heights of up to 115 feet in between famous Parisian buildings. They really attract quite a crowd and do some crazy things like trying to balance on a rope and take it a step further than just walking across tightropes. It pretty much looks illegal, which is probably why it gets such a crowd.

How do you define cool?

When I think about cool it has got to be something that you won't step out and see your best friends wearing or a million people on Queen street doing the same thing. Cool is something that not everyone's caught on to. When something is pretty cool it's sort of passé and I wouldn't really consider it cool anymore.

What is your secret to uncovering the best trends?

My secret to uncovering the best trends is relying on some key blogs, but it is also looking at what other people find cool, whether it is your Facebook friends or people you don't know on Twitter or other interns. If they are looking at something, it will probably lead you to something else and act kind of like a train of dominoes. Soon you will find yourself looking at a page you would have never looked at before. That's really where I like to keep it fresh and find the coolest ideas.

What is your favorite thing about Trend Hunter?

My favorite thing about working at Trend Hunter is when you first go in you have this idea that when you interview or intern you are going to end up at a place where you end up making photocopies or get coffees and lattes. But, at Trend Hunter they really appreciate your ideas even if you are young and new. When you are young, you have something valuable, you have fresh ideas and that is something Trend Hunter has really taught me.

What is the most remarkable way you see businesses changing?

One of the most remarkable ways I see businesses changing is interviews like these. People want to get to know the people behind the brand. If you can get to know a little bit about the brand and the people behind it I feel like it really inspires people to feel a personal connection to the brand when they are looking to buy something new.

What is your favorite accomplishment?

My favorite accomplishment really has to be getting my internship that I did here last summer. I didn't get a call back right away after I applied. So I buckled down, wrote a lot of articles and I harassed the hell out of the editors here. In the end, I got the internship and I hope that I really earned my way here.

Predict something awesome for 2020?

Something I predict for the future, which sounds biased but it is totally not, is Trend Hunter the TV series. Not only am I obsessed with the trailer but all my friends are too. I think if you check it out you will know what I am talking about too.

Any last thoughts you would like to add about Trend Hunter?

Happy billion views Trend Hunter. I would sing the Marilyn Monroe style birthday song but it wouldn't be pretty so happy billion views.
