Israeli renewables firm Sologic installed the eTree, an electronic 'tree' that offers free WiFi and electric outlets, in the Ramat Hanadiv nature park. The eTree aims to give visitors to the park a place to rest, connect to the Internet and charge their devices.
In addition to being a public space facility, the eTree is also a social and environmental enterprise as well as an art project. It aims to promote environmental awareness, connect people to the Internet and create a link between people and their environment.
The eTree uses solar panels -- mounted on its 'branches' -- to harvest energy and generate electricity, which is used to power USB charging points and provide free WiFi for the surrounding area. An LCD screen provides information on the amount of electricity generated by the tree.
