The Esse Lamp Was Born Out of Lockdown Limitations

The Esse lamp by Plato Design and Sign Press was developed during pandemic restrictions, as the design was created in a home garage with limited access to equipment, supplies and manufacturing processes. The lamp boasts a monolithic form made up of simple lines and shapes, which was essential since creating a complex mold wasn't possible. The lamp also includes a slot so that electrical wiring could be added to the design without the need for equipment.

Sales of the cement lamp in gray, red and yellow will help to contribute to the Lang Europe Onlus Foundation in support of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund of the World Health Organization.

The lamp is not just a reflection of the current times but also the future of manufacturing, craftsmanship and local resource use.
