Layered Vintage Photo Manipulations

Emir Sehanovic Piles Images & Artfully Cuts Through Them

The saying goes that people are made up of many layers and Emir Sehanovic visually literalizes that in his stunning series titled ‘99 — 101 soft pages.’ On the surface of each piece is a vintage photograph of people with their faces cut or burned out. Underneath this layer are copious pages of periodicals that have been meticulously cut out to reveal the layer underneath. The culmination of these pages results in an effect not unlike what you’d see on the sides of canyons. And because Sehanovic varies the shapes of these layers, viewers are treated to images that look very cosmic in their final form. It seems no one can fault Sehanovic for lack of creativity in his use of depth.

For those interested, Emir Sehanovic welcomes collaborations with other artists. You can get in contact with him through his personal website.
