Emerging Artist In-Salon Art Exhibit

Sean McKinney

Salon Moxie, located in Raleigh's North Ridge Shopping Center, will debut new works by emerging artist Sean McKinney during an in-salon art exhibit that will run from November 2 to January 2, 2008. The Artist's Reception will be held in conjunction with the city's First Friday Art Walk November 2, from 6-9 p.m.

McKinney, 22, lives in downtown Raleigh but is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He studied art at Leesville High School in Raleigh and at UNC-Wilmington.

When asked how he would describe his work for the Salon Moxie exhibit, he said, “I don't like boxing myself in, especially for this show, which is actually fairly diverse. Some pieces are rather realistic while some are more abstract. There's pastel work, there's painting, there's drawing â€" a whole slew of things I've thrown in.

“My work does two things for me,” he continued. “One is sort of a venting â€" an outpour of energy. Then again, it can be more of a meditative thing. Ultimately it comes from a moment when I quit thinking and just let it flow.”

Salon Moxie is located at 6191-122 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. ###
