Designer Tribute Stamps

US Post Honour Eames

Charles and Ray Eames will be honored by the US post office this summer with a series of 16 stamps designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC.

Charles and Ray Eames are among the most important American designers of this century. They are best known for their groundbreaking contributions to architecture, furniture design (e.g., the Eames Chair), industrial design and manufacturing, and the photographic arts.

I am particularly fond of their work as I have sat in a stackable, molded chair created by them in a church hall. I have also experienced their expensive designs at 5* hotels. Their work truly was available to all members of the public.
