Designer Lucie Libotte see dust as more than just something to be swept away and hidden under our furniture and the corners of a home. She actually creates ceramic art with it, conveying the value of dust as an indicator of our environment, showing how it reflects our daily life and traces.
By coating a ceramic piece with the dust, and then placing it in a kiln to fire it, the extreme heat burns off the organic parts of the dust and fuses the inorganic parts to the ceramic. The results are a remarkable mixture of charcoal grays and colors that are unique to the location and journey and the dust has undergone.
