Drawn to the Table Project Enhances Communication in Communities

Technology seems to be immersing itself into every portion of our daily routine by the looks of the Drawn to the Table project. This digital dinner table encourages playful interaction between family members and friends during meals, even if those family members and friends aren't even at the same table.

Created by Alice Moloney, Julene Aguirre Bielschowsky and Cheng Guo, the Drawn to the Table project provides digital 'ink' that allows the users to doodle and message each other while sitting down to eat. These drawings and messages, however, can also be transferred onto the smartphones or laptops to those not there so as to maintain a strong connection.

According to Moloney, Drawn to the Table was created as "a response to a brief set by Blackberry that questioned how online and offline technologies can be used to complement each other in a way that enhances communication in communities."
