Drawer Eric Yahnker is known for his hyper-realistic pencil sketches and his latest series, called 'Sticks & Drones,' that satirically pokes fun at America's current pop culture obsession.
Yahnker's pencil drawings are incredibly detailed and vivid pieces of artwork. The drawings Yahnker specifically designed for his 'Sticks & Drones' art show at London's Paradise Row gallery are enormous in size. The sketches feature familiar and nostalgic pop culture references like Budweiser beer, Mariah Carey, Woody Allen and high-waisted shorts. Yahnker's careful use of repetition and juxtaposition create subversive commentaries about how dangerously infatuated America is with pop culture rather than real-life social issues. For example, one of Yahnker's works showcases President Obama watching Miley Cyrus ride a wrecking ball rather than performing his office duties.
