You’d think with newspapers having existed for almost two centuries that we would have seen all the creativity possible in the format, but this dragon print ad would prove that sentiment wrong.
In a really cool way to promote the new season of HBO’s incredibly popular and brutal epic fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones,’ the New York Times ran this ad featuring a looming Khaleesi dragon print over the articles on the page. It actually looks like if you caught just a glimpse of the page, you’d think a dragon was flying overhead. The articles are actually dummy articles, which makes me wonder how many people were fooled by either the implied dragon apocalypse or the faked print articles.
Just in case you missed it, the dragon print ad makes sure people know about the new season of Game of Thrones with the premiere date in the bottom right corner.
