The Doug Johnston Spring/Summer 2014 Collection is Tightly Bound

The Doug Johnston Spring/Summer 2014 collection is made entirely of coiled cord, all tightly bound into the shapes of backpacks, totes and over-the-shoulder bags. The Brooklyn-based designer is known for his unique capacity to intermingle art, architecture and music into his creative products and performances.

Intricately woven bits of rope have come together here in different shapes and sizes, all of which are appropriate for feminine spring wear. Each piece is able to bend and twist by way of the materials, enabling the purses to expand and contract in a highly functional manner.

Johnston has been mastering this roped design niche since 2010 when he first began working with the artistic medium. His lengthy experience with the production process is evident in this eclectic line featuring yellow, pale blue and orange shades.
