Shocking Teen Abuse PSAs

DoSomething.org Uses Police Report Notes From Rihanna Case

No matter the outcome of Chris Brown’s trial, his alleged abuse of Rihanna has brought to light a shocking statistic from DoSomething.org that 1 in 3 teens is abused in a relationship. The organization has released a PSA that uses the actual detective notes taken on February 8.

These notes are narrated with a monotone voiceover as young white actors reenact the incident between Chris Brown and Rihanna. DoSomething.org CEO Nancy Lublin said that these choices were intentional: "We didn’t want to be overdramatic. Our goal was not to shoot a Lifetime TV movie. There was no need to sensationalize things. It was bad enough."

The DoSomething.org PSA is meant to shed light on the shocking statistic of teen abuse, not necessarily to presume guilt or innocence for either Chris Brown or Rihanna. What do you think of the PSA? Is it effective or inflammatory? Share your Reaction below.
