Boat Shoe Sandals

The 'Dory' is a sStylish and Breathable Take on the Classic Boat Shoe

This spring, Philadelphia-area start-up and adventurewear brand Cape Dory Rigging will officially launch its flagship product, the Dory, a one-of-a-kind shoe that is part boat shoe and part sandal, with a $36,000 campaign on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

The Dory incorporates classic fashion and innovation, seamlessly blending the iconic style of a Sperry boat shoe with the comfort and wearability of a Birkenstock sandal, while integrating modern design innovations. For instance, the sandal is made with high-quality duck canvas, genuine leather and premium durable laces. A spandex inner-sock keeps shoes snug and dry. A cork and latex footbed molds to the wearer's foot over time for increased comfort. The stylish wraparound heel lacing keep the shoe secured to the foot makes it a sandal that won’t flip-flop. EVA soles ensure comfort and durability on or off the beach.

In January, the Dory was made available in a limited release to select retailers and fashion writers, and has received a fantastic response from customers and on social media. The Kickstarter campaign, launching in mid-March will capitalize on a production run of 1,000 pairs. Contributors to the campaign will be able secure their Dorys for $50-$65. Dorys will normally retail at $87-95.
