Curvaceous Wooden Domes

The 'Dome of Visions' Explores Wood as an Eco-Friendly Alternative

The 'Dome of Visions' is the third iteration of a series which explores sustainable spaces within a dome-like enclosure. The structure was designed by Finnish company Metsä Wood, which specializes in the production of experimental wood incorporation. To date, this dome is the largest of its kind.

The green building features curved wooden beams to achieve a grid-like facade. A functional greenhouse lies inside of the dome, where guests are welcomed to explore the simulated botanical environment, and immerse themselves within the climbable wooden structure. The dome's main purpose is to explore the possibility of sustainable architecture, through an environmentally friendly material like wood, which is often overlooked in the design world as an architectural candidate.
