Now however, scientists from the University of Adelaide are taking things to a whole new level by developing a laser diagnostic instrument -- inspired by dogs' noses -- that can screen human's breath samples.
This dog's nose-inspired invention has a lot of potential as it could guarantee instant results at high accuracy, while screening for different things simultaneously. A working prototype is expected to be ready in two to three years and a market-ready product in three to five. This product truly could shake up the world of medical diagnostics whilst also offering applications in other areas such as trace gas-measurement.
