Poop Powered Wi-Fi

Mexican Internet Company, Terra, Trades Dog Poop for Wi-Fi

Mexican Internet company, Terra, has found a way to make dog owners more inclined to pick up after their pets by trading dog poo for Wi-Fi!

Receptors are set up to accept and weigh excrement so that free Wi-Fi access may be enjoyed for a specific length of time, according to the weight of excrement received. The signal is distributed through bone-shaped devices scattered in trees or stuck into the ground around the area.

This initiative does a better job than the traditional "Pick up after your pet!" sign to encourage pet owners to keep city parks clean, benefitting park users in the area in more ways than one. Terra is set to install this system in 10 different parks in Mexico City and looks to further the program by accepting recyclable trash at local farms in exchange for Internet credits. Only time will tell when the 'trade poo for Wi-Fi' incentive comes to North America.
