Aged Tree Art Collections

The Diptych Collection Sandblasts Wood and Highlights a Tree's Age

The Diptych Collection was done by New Window and Lex Pott to explore the aging process of a tree, and make some art in the process. The designs are sandblasted, which reveal the age rings from the tree's life.

This particular tree that was used in the collection was planted in 1960, and recently cut down in 2013, making it perfect for exploring its aging process. The pieces made in the Diptych Collection vary, and don't seem to serve any function in particular. The main point is that viewers are able to see the age lines in solid form in the wood, and then using sandblasting techniques these lines are carefully separated in other parts of the same piece. It's fascinating to see the aging process laid right in front of one's eyes. Photo Credits: designboom, newwindow.nl
