Turning forests into magical places full of fairies and wise old trees like in the fairy tale world, Dear Human has taken on a project that gives abandoned half-cut trees eyes so they can ‘keep watch’ over the forest and remind people everything can have purpose.
Dear Human is an artistic partnership between Jasna Sokolovic and Noel O’Connell who share common beliefs about experimenting with everyday landscapes to alter people’s perception. ‘The Sentinels’ project takes on that same concept and gives these old trees (that were chopped down over a century ago) new life and an added new meaning to their existence.
Using porcelain eyeballs to fill up holes in the trees (that looked like empty eye sockets) that the duo says "longed for an intervention," ‘The Sentinels’ project is unique and magical.
