The Dan Baker 'Firefly' is Eco-Friendly

Canadian resident Dan Baker's 'Firefly' design furthers the growing preference for sustainable boating. The large structure can seat up to six and can moreover cruise along beds of water with the aid of photovoltaic solar panels.

Baker's creation of the Firefly points to a burgeoning green design niche, one that is being carried out at home. He acquired the panels on eBay and assembled them on his own time. Though this process may not come across as the most efficient, he strove to include a Bluetooth stereo, lounge seating, LED fixtures and a canopy. A safety kit and an air horn were also added, assuring only the smoothest of rides.

Firefly's $2,845 price tag is relatively cheap as far as boats go, and will continue to generate savings via its renewable energy sources.
