Community-Building Murals

This Cultural Square Was Refurbished to Promote Local Businesses

The San Miguel Cultural Square in Spain was once a vibrant hub for local shops, restaurants and culture. Throughout the years however, buildings in this old town began to look aged and dilapidated. Crumbling buildings forced many businesses out of the area, which saw the morale and culture of the city drop.

After winning a national rehabilitation project however, the square received a well-deserved makeover. The project is meant to revitalize the local craft industry, prevent closures of existing businesses and reintroduce vibrancy into the cultural square.

One of the marque additions to the square was a bright yellow mural that covered the facade of an old building. The graffiti-like art was well received by the town, creating a focal point for the revitalized square.
