Minimalist Crib-Like Seating

The Douglas Bench by Lewis Nelson is Charming

At first glance, the Douglas bench can pass off as a crib-like seating. The wooden material coupled with the simple spokes brings to mind the traditional piece of baby furniture. Not to mention the pastel coloring as well. Yet it is immediately apparent that resting a baby on this crib-like seating may not be the smartest move. Although it could easily be placed in a nursery for parents and visitors.

Designed by Lewis Nelson, a recent furniture design graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, the crib-like seating is named after the Douglas Fir material used because it is a refreshing change from the commonality of ash in the United Kingdom. Nelson reveals, "Lamination steam bending is used to maximise the amount of product that can be harvested from a single tree."
