Outdoor Co-Working Spaces

The TreeXOffice Breathes Fresh Air into More Traditional Workplaces

The co-working space is gaining a lot of steam as millennials continue to embrace alternative work schedules and jobs. Yet until now, these flexible offices have remained fairly traditional themselves -- at least design-wise. TreeXOffice hopes to break that model by introducing an outdoor co-working space. Essentially a canopy in the trees, it literally breathes fresh air into the office perfect for breeding creativity and productivity.

Designed by New York University professor Natalie Jeremijenko, the co-working space is located in an East London park called Hoxton Square. Able to accommodate six to eight people at a time, it's an art project that also benefits the park. Jeremijenko says, "The profits from the tree are spent in the interest of the tree. By making it specifically about the tree, and the kind of revenue that the tree can generate, we're really exploring a larger political discussion of what are the rights of nature."
