Panera's Cool Food Meals Have a Low Impact on the Climate

With Cool Food Meals, Panera Bread is introducing meals that have a low impact on the climate, setting itself apart as the first national restaurant company to do so. In collaboration with World Resources Institute (WRI), Panera is helping to highlight the link between what people eat and the environment. To create these Cool Food Meals, "WRI has established a maximum recommended daily carbon footprint for a person's diet, which is 38% smaller than the current average. This is in line with what WRI research finds is needed by 2030 to help mitigate the worst impacts of climate change."

Notably, more than half of the Panera entrees are Cool Food Meals, including the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt, 10 Vegetable Soup, Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and Broccoli Cheddar Soup.
