This Apartment Building Was Made From an Old Converted Mall

This converted mall was once the 'Arcade Providence' -- a National Historic Landmark in the United States that used to be the oldest mall in the country.

The historic building was redesigned by 'Northeast Collaborative Architects' and while its interior and exterior structures remain the same, many of the stores have been converted into micro-apartments. The building still features some shops on the ground floor along with mixed-use housing and the second and third floors offer 48 affordable micro-apartments for individuals and couples. The apartments are between 225-450 square feet and offer all the amenities needed to live in a home comfortably.

This converted mall retains its charm while offering inexpensive housing for people living in Rhode Island.
