The Communications Through Time Project Holds Up

The Communications Through Time Project transforms a vintage typewriter into a chic shelf. The idea began when Chicago-based graphic designer Codi Goodis found her grandparents' vintage typewriter and wanted to display it above her modern day computer. Luckily enough, Goodis' father is an architect named Richard Wismer and the father-daughter duo decided to collaborate on this endeavour.

Wismer transformed his daughter's idea into reality, yet added something extra to the design by making it appear that the shelf was in fact stacked paper. The creative design not only honors the classic communication technology, but provides inspiration on what is possible through human ingenuity. The Communications Through Time shelf shows the transformation from typewriter to the contemporary computer, and the powerful nature of both technologies.
