Emissions-Cutting Commercial Airliners

The Aurora D8 will Improve Performance for Passenger Travel

Being funded by NASA, the Aurora D8 commercial airliner aims to help break through the traditional design of passenger jets and create something inherently more efficient.

Projected to start taking to the skies in 2027, the Aurora D8 airliner draws inspiration in design from the Boeing 707 from 1958. This aircraft was the one that helped to revolutionize air travel for consumers, so the research is being done to see if the design can simply be improved upon.

Prototype iterations of the Aurora D8 commercial airliner have been released as NASA begins a six-month stint to fund the project that will run about $2.9-million. When it takes to the skies, the Aurora D8 will help to drastically reduce emissions of airliners to ensure we keep moving towards greater efficiency and resource consumption restriction.
